报告摘要: In this talk, I will first present a new model of local cortical circuits constrained by recent anatomical data. Based on the model, I will illustrate a dynamical working regime identified for cortex, in which dynamical activity patterns exhibit fractional motions. Such fractional activity patterns provide a mechanistic explanation for a great variety of neurophysiological data measured at different levels, including spiking dynamics and bursting high-frequency oscillations coupled to slower ones. I will then show that factional activity patterns provide a framework for understanding the neurophysiological mechanism of cognitive functions such as attention and for implementing a new kind of neural spatiotemporal coding. In addition, I will present some methods we have recently developed for identifying and analyzing propagating wave patterns in neural population activity.
